The work involves replacing five main water lines (6" domestic hot water, 8" cold water pressurized, 8" cold water supply, 12" fire water, and 6" condensate) between building 501 (chiller building) and building 500 (HOSPITAL) at the VA Greater Los Angeles (GLA) campus, including the basements and connecting tunnel. The project includes constructing approximately 450 feet of bypass lines to maintain HOSPITAL operations, diverting water to these temporary lines, replacing approximately 400 feet of the existing lines, and then removing the bypass lines. The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary parts, equipment, labor, and materials for the removal, connection, and reinstallation of water lines, as well as maintaining temporary water service for the HOSPITAL during the work.
